Corey Kiassat earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2013. His doctoral research combined operations research, human factors and quantitative human resource management. He explored how human factors, like skill levels and shift work, impact system performance. Before that, he completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. He later earned an MBA from York University.<\/p>\n
Before joining NC State, Kiassat was the first associate dean of the School of Computing and Engineering at Quinnipiac University. He was also a tenured professor of industrial engineering and held a cross-appointment as a professor of medical sciences at Quinnipiac\u2019s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. As one of the founding faculty members of the School of Engineering in 2013, Kiassat played key roles in industry partnerships, fundraising, strategic development, operational efficiency, student success programs, curriculum design and accreditation. Furthermore, his applied research included projects with hospitals across Connecticut to improve productivity and efficiency.<\/p>\n
Before his academic career, Kiassat, a licensed professional engineer, spent 11 years working at General Motors.
