I take exceptional pride in knowing that the ISE department is making a meaningful impact, both here on our campus as well as nationally \u2013 even on a global scale.<\/p>\n
In September, Nobel laureate and NC State industrial engineering alumni Dr. Rajendra Pachauri returned to his engineering roots at State to deliver an address sponsored by the university\u2019s Office of International Affairs. Dr. Pachauri is also Director-General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), an NC State global strategic partner that provides knowledge on energy, environment, forestry, biotechnology, natural resources conservation and the development of solutions to global problems in these areas. Of course, I believe it was Pachauri\u2019s engineering training at NC State, including both a master\u2019s and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, that helped set the course for his remarkable career and the vitally important work he directs at IPCC. Another example of how engineers are emerging in critical areas of leadership worldwide!<\/p>\n
Here on campus, our much-anticipated Homecoming event was held at the McKimmon Center. The event focused on healthcare systems by featuring a panel of special guests from Triangle area healthcare organizations, giving ISE alumni, faculty and students a better understanding of the changes in taking place in healthcare systems. The Homecoming activities were highlighted by the induction of a new class of Distinguished ISE Alumni.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d like to thank our ISE alumni who participated in the Alumni Survey, designed to help the department communicate more efficiently and effectively with our growing ISE family. Your input is our most valuable asset in building a world-class alumni network and ensuring the ongoing success of NC State ISE.<\/p>\n
