class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"remote-pc-access\">Remote PC Access Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a student, staff or faculty member, you can work remotely on your ISE-owned campus computer. First, complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/webpublishing.oit.ncsu.edu\/myise-ise-ncsu-edu\/forms\/request-remote-pc-access\/\">Request Remote PC Access Form<\/a> to get permission for remote access. After approval, use Microsoft\u2019s Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) when working off-campus. You must first log in to <a href=\"http:\/\/vpn.ncsu.edu\">NC State\u2019s Virtual Private Network (VPN)<\/a> to connect successfully. This step ensures a secure connection to your office machine. If you have a Windows computer, this tool is pre-installed as <strong>Remote Desktop Connection<\/strong>. Mac users can download the app from the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/microsoft-remote-desktop-10\/id1295203466?mt=12\">Mac App Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On <strong>Windows 10 or 11<\/strong>, type <strong>\u201cRemote Desktop Connection\u201d<\/strong> into the search bar at the bottom of your home page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pop-up window will appear. Ensure you have the most up-to-date software installed before moving forward.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose <strong>Apple Menu<\/strong>, <strong>System Preferences<\/strong> and then select <strong>Printers &amp; Scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Add<\/strong> button at the bottom of the printer list, click the <strong>IP<\/strong> button, and then enter the printer information using the following information as a guide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To set up your printer&#8217;s <strong>Address<\/strong>, enter the hostname followed by \u201c.ie.ncsu.edu\u201d (for example, raleigh.ie.ncsu.edu).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, click the <strong>Protocol<\/strong> pop-up menu and select <strong>Internet Printing Protocol (IPP)<\/strong>, which most modern printers support. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your printer requires a <strong>Queue<\/strong> name, enter it.
