Zhengming “Jimmy” Zhang
Zhengming “Jimmy” Zhang, Ph.D., is an engineer specializing in semiconductor manufacturing, machine learning, and intelligent transportation systems. He is currently a software engineer at Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon, where he works on advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies.
Jimmy earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University in 2025, where his research focused on deep learning, behavior prediction, and human–machine interaction in transportation safety. His work, supported by the Toyota Collaborative Safety Research Center (CSRC), included developing deep learning models for pedestrian and rider behavior prediction and investigating differences in how autonomous driving systems and humans perceive road scenarios.
Previously, Jimmy earned a Master of Science in Statistics from UC San Diego (2018–2020), where he also served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Mathematics. His early research experience included applying machine learning and deep learning methods at the Transportation and Autonomous Systems Institute, IUPUI.
With expertise in C++, Python, and deep learning, and certifications in programming and data structures, Jimmy brings a strong blend of academic rigor and practical innovation. His career reflects a dedication to advancing technologies that enhance both semiconductor manufacturing and transportation safety.
