Bio

In 2004, S. Sebnem Ahiska King received a full scholarship from the Council of Higher Education of Turkey to pursue doctoral study in the USA, and she went to NC State University for the Ph.D. program in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). Upon receiving her Ph.D. degree in 2008, she started her academic career as Assistant Professor in the Industrial Engineering Department at Galatasaray University where she worked for over 10 years teaching several Operations Research-related courses in both English and French languages. Her research focused mainly on the application of stochastic processes in the planning and control of stochastic hybrid manufacturing/remanufacturing systems with or without product substitution as well as the unreliable multi-supplier systems, and the applications of mathematical programming for the design of product assembly system and logistics network. A couple of years after she received her Associate Professor title from the Council of Higher Education of Turkey in 2015, she moved to the USA and taught ISE courses at NC State University as Adjunct Associate Professor/Lecturer. Currently, she is continuing her career as Associate Teaching Professor at Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
