Bio
Sheila Benny built a successful career in the supply chain industry and became a respected entrepreneur and industry leader. As co-founder and president of Optricity Corporation, she helped grow the company into a global enterprise serving Fortune 10-1000 customers across six continents. After the company was acquired in 2022, she stayed on as client success director to support a smooth transition. Then, she retired in 2023 to focus on her health and family.
Although she retired from corporate leadership, Benny remained committed to mentoring students, supporting entrepreneurs and serving her community. Today, she continues working as an entrepreneur, technology supporter and community leader. In addition, she serves on advisory boards for Wake Technical Community College and South Garner High. She also co-founded Mentor-in-the-Moment, a mentoring program for emerging industry professionals.
Throughout her career, Benny has served on many volunteer boards and regularly speaks at industry events and podcasts. Moreover, she served as president of the Warehousing Education Research Council, now part of MHI. There, she mentored future industry leaders and supported leadership training programs. NC State recognized Benny as a Distinguished Alumna in 2021. She earned her Industrial Engineering degree from NC State in 1990.
