Bio

Spencer Thompson studied industrial engineering at NC State and discovered his passion for additive manufacturing while working at Fineline Prototyping. Later, Thompson stayed at NC State for graduate school and joined the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics as a research assistant. In addition, he completed a custom master’s program focused on additive manufacturing.

During graduate school, Thompson interned at EOS headquarters in Germany. There, he studied post-processing and abrasive flow machining with partner company Extrude Hone. After graduation, Thompson joined EOS North America as a metal applications engineer. He trained customers, built parts and developed support structures across many industries. As a result, he built a strong technical foundation in additive manufacturing.

Later, Thompson led the EOS North America metal research and development team. Then, he became a Senior Application Developer and focused on long-term customer projects. Today, Thompson serves as Lead Engineer of Environmental Technology and develops sustainable additive manufacturing solutions that reduce environmental impact.
