Scholarships and fellowships help make an NC State engineering education more affordable and accessible. As a result, students can focus more on academics, leadership opportunities and professional development. In addition, scholarships and fellowships reduce financial stress and allow students to participate in research, internships and student organizations that enhance their educational experience.
The scholarships and fellowships listed below are generally awarded annually. However, availability and award amounts may vary from year to year based on available funding. To apply for all College of Engineering and ISE scholarships, simply complete the online College of Engineering Scholarship Application.

ISE Scholarships
Alpha Pi Mu/Kenneth D. Franklin Outstanding Sophomore Award
The Alpha Pi Mu/Kenneth D. Franklin Outstanding Sophomore Award recognizes the top-ranked sophomore in ISE. Kenneth D. Franklin and Wanda B. Franklin created the award in 2006. As a result, outstanding students receive both scholarship support and department recognition.
Franklin earned his Industrial Engineering degree from NC State in 1971. In addition, he received the first Alpha Pi Mu Outstanding Sophomore Award.
John Andrews Scholarship
Hugh Duncan Scholarship
The Hugh M. Duncan Endowed Scholarship supports ISE students who demonstrate strong academic achievement. Hugh M. Duncan established the scholarship on December 10, 1997, to help future generations of students succeed.
Duncan earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from NC State in 1955. As a result, his scholarship continues to support talented students pursuing an education in industrial and systems engineering.
Edward P. Fitts Scholarship
The Edward P. Fitts Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Engineering supports ISE students who demonstrate strong academic achievement. Edward P. Fitts established the scholarship on June 23, 1999, to help students pursue their education.
Fitts earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from NC State in 1961. As a result, his scholarship continues to support talented students in industrial and systems engineering.
Allen “Fred” and Beverly Gant Scholarship
The Allen “Fred” and Beverly J. Gant Endowed Scholarship supports ISE students who demonstrate strong academic achievement. The Gants established the scholarship on June 18, 1996, to help students pursue their educational goals.
Allen F. Gant earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from NC State in 1955. As a result, this scholarship continues to support future generations of ISE students and their academic success.

Thomas and Tressa Pearson Scholarship
The Thomas D. and Tressa L. Pearson Scholarship supports students in the College of Engineering who demonstrate strong academic achievement. Preference is given to students in the Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
The Pearsons established the scholarship to help future engineers pursue their educational goals. Thomas Pearson earned his degree in Industrial Engineering and Furniture and Manufacturing Management from NC State in 1965. As a result, this scholarship continues to support student success and academic excellence.

Fitts Fellowship
The Fitts Graduate Fellowships support ISE graduate students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. Edward P. Fitts established the fellowships in 1999 to help attract and support talented graduate students.
Fitts earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from NC State in 1961. As a result, his legacy continues through fellowship support that helps graduate students pursue advanced study, research and professional development.
